Lesson 7 (11-14-18)

Q. Why do I still struggle with sin?
A. There is a war between the remnant of my old self and the new nature that the Spirit has given me.

Day 1
Read Romans 7:15–25.
When have you felt this way?
How does Paul summarize his situation in verse 25?
Where does he find hope? How does this give you hope?

Day 2
Read Judges 14–16.
Everyone in the Bible (except Jesus!) struggled with sin. You can read Samson’s story in these chapters. What were some of his sinful behaviors?
How did God judge those sins?
How was God merciful to him?

Day 3
Read John 13:36–38.
What did Peter promise to do for Jesus?

Read Matthew 26:69–75.
What did Peter do?
How did he respond when he realized his sin?

Day 4
Read 1 Corinthians 10:13. (This is a good verse to memorize and quote when you are tempted!)
What does God promise when we are tempted?

Read 1 John 1:9.
What does God promise when we recognize and confess our sin?

Day 5
Read Psalm 51.
God called David “a man after his own heart,” yet David committed some pretty horrible sins. Read one of David’s prayers of repentance in Psalm 51.
