Lesson 2 (9-26-18)

Session 2
Q. Why is the world so messed up?
A. Rebellion against God is the root cause of the world’s problems. God’s wrath is revealed against the wicked, including the self-righteous.

Read 1 Corinthians 1:25–31.
You read verses 17–25 last week (or did you?). What do you learn about God’s wisdom and this world’s foolishness in these verses?

What does it mean that God made Christ to be our wisdom, our righteousness, our sanctification, and our redemption? (Ask your parents, pastor, or youth leader if you aren’t sure.)

Is Christ the source of your life?

Read 1 John 5:11–13.
How can we know if we have eternal life?

How can we know if we do not have eternal life?

Read Ephesians 6:1–3.
What is the promise that goes along with this commandment? What are ways you can obey and honor your parents this week?

Read Galatians 5:16–26.
What does it mean to “walk by the Spirit” and be “led by the Spirit”?

What is the warning for those who habitually indulge the works of the flesh listed
in verses 19–21? Are you habitually sinning in any of these areas? What will you do about it?

Wrap it up in prayer
Do you need to:
• confess and repent of your sins?
• ask God to help you “walk your talk”?
• honor and thank God for who he is?
